Prior to this he was working as the Chief Transport Planning Manager of Eastern Railway, Howrah. He was elevated to this Chief Head Of the Department of operations wing of the North Eastern Railway on Wednesday. Shri Anup Kumar is highly competent and renowned officer of Indian Railway Traffic Service. He belongs to Indian Railway Traffic Service and began his career in 1995. After joining as Area manager of Sahdol in 1997, he held various posts in operations at Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railway. Later held key posts in traffic commercial at Garden Reach, Kolkata, S.E. Railway and at Bilaspur & Nagpur Divisions of South East Central Railway. He also held the post of Senior Divisional Safety officer of Raipur Division for a brief time. As Chief General Manager of the Central Region of Container Corporation of India, he took the business of company to new heights at Bhopal, Raipur, Nagpur, Aurangabad , Bhusaval etc and was awarded by the Chief Minister of Chattisgarh as the best Business Leader in 2020. There are many awards and recognitions to his credit for meritorious service like General Managers Award in 1999 and Railway Board National Award in 2001. He has been trained in National Academy of Indian Rlys, Vadodara and also attended Port and Logistics training in Antwerp, Belgium etc.
