ART GALLERY UNVIELED AT DIVISIONAL RAILWAY MANAGER’S OFFICE
On this day of 16th April, 1853 as the Indian Railways embarks on its 171st year of glorious journey connecting the nation, Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has introduced as series of art works showcasing the historic journey and developments made by Indian Railways as a tribute to the Waltair Division serving the 3 states Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. On this momentous occasion, the Waltair Division has set up an Art Gallery at concourse area of Divisional Railway Manager’s office highlighting the diverse cultural rich heritage of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. The gallery was unveiled by DRM Waltair Shri Saurabh Prasad in august presence of President, E Co R Women’s Welfare Organization- Waltair Smt Manjushree Prasad, ADRM (infra) Shri Sudhir Kumar Gupta, ADRM (Operations) Shri Manoj Kumar Sahoo, Vice President ECoRWWO Smt Madhusmitha Sahoo, Executive members of ECoRWWO, Gatishakti Officials and Branch Officers.
The magnificent 24 feet long acrylic paint based canvas was unveiled which highlights the cultural, social and Economic integration of the people served across 10 districts of India. Shri Moka Vijaya Kumar, a railway employee at Diesel Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam and a renowned free lancer, worked relentlessly for 3 months to make this project reality. Smt Manjushree Prasad, President, Eco Railway Women’s Welfare Organization also contributed to the improvement of various facets of railway working. The portrait illustrates the heritage, prestigious institutions like Andhra University, Visakhapatnam Port, Vizag Steel Plant, Navy and its integration with the tribal people; the tourist destinations Rayagada, Kolab reservoir, Chitrakoot waterfalls etc.
Adding to art gallery, a Charcoal based portrait on canson sheet depicts artistic splendor in showcasing the iconic picturesque Bridge 249 near Shivalingapuram in Alluri Seetharamaju District in Kottavalasa- Kirandul line was in built in 1960s.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Saurabh Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Division said this gallery is a compliment to the enduring spirit of Indian Railways and its integral role in fostering cultural exchange and connectivity across our nation. The division has initiated displaying of such art works, heritage displays in various Railway establishments, colonies etc., he added.
