SEPSIS PREVENTION AWARENESS PROGRAM
Indian Society of Critical care Medicine (ISCCM) Visakhapatnam branch has conducted a public awareness program, for non medical & medical personel on prevention, early treatment of infections to prevent patients going into life threatening sepsis & septic shock, on 31st October, 2023 at AMCOSA hall, Zilla Parishad junction, Visakhapatnam. In India 30 Lakhs of people get sepsis every year. In the world every 3 seconds one person is dying of sepsis.
Special guests attended & addressed the gathering are Mr.D.M.Rao (Chartered Accountant, President – Rotary club, Vizag), Dr.Kuchela Babu & Dr.Ravindra Babu. The focus been on the importance of preventing infections (Hygeine, Sanitisation & Vaccination), early recognition of infection & seeking medical help, to reduce the risk of developing serious illnesses like sepsis & septic shock requiring ICU admission for advanced interventional management like ventilatory & dialysis supports costing families too much of financial burden.
Doctors of ISCCM committee, Vizag Branch (Dr.Lakshmi Rani Takkellapati – Chairperson, Dr.Rama Devi – Secretary, Dr.S.Anooradha, Dr.Manjula, Dr.Vara Lakshmi, Dr.Sushree & Dr.Bhavya) along with other critical care specialists of the city. Dr.Mohan Maharaj, Dr.Atchyuth Gongada, Dr.Srinivas Monanga & Dr.Ravi Krishna have enlightened the audience about various types of infections, diagnostic challenges and the treatment modalities, to cut down sepsis related deaths in the country.
At the end of the meeting they emphasised that sepsis is preventable, treatable & defeatable provided that medical help taken from right people at right time & right place.
