


DRDO demonstrates the nation’s next-gen defence capabilities
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully demonstrated multiple crucial technologies bolstering the nation’s defence capabilities against different types of enemy threats. Three consecutive flight-tests were conducted on June 10 & 11, 2026 to demonstrate multi-layered defence against long range ballistic missiles and anti-ship capability at medium range.Multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) capability was successfully demonstrated. The interceptors successfully engaged their respective targets. The systems are designed and developed with latest technologies to address the emerging missile threats.



These tests have put the country in the elite group of nations having BMD capability to engage up to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. The maiden flight-test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range (NASM-MR) was also carried out successfully. The flight-tests were witnessed by senior officials of DRDO and Defence Forces.

Bharat Scouts & Guides Launch Week-long Awareness Campaign on On-board Cleanliness, Fire Safety and Prevention of Ticketless Travel The Bharat Scouts & Guides wing of Visakhapatnam Division, South Coast Railway, launched a week-long awareness campaign on On-board Cleanliness, Prevention of Ticketless Travelling and Fire Safety in Trains from 13th June to 21st June 2026. The campaign aims to promote responsible travel practices among railway passengers and enhance awareness regarding safety and cleanliness during train journeys.


As part of the launch programme, posters and pamphlets highlighting the key messages of the campaign were unveiled by Shri Lalit Bohra, President, Bharat Scouts & Guides and Divisional Railway Manager, Visakhapatnam Division. The programme was held in the presence of Shri K. Rama Rao, District Chief Commissioner and ADRM (Operations), Visakhapatnam; Shri Deeptanshu Sharma, Vice President and Senior Divisional Signal & Telecom Engineer, Visakhapatnam; Shri Rajeev Kumar, District Commissioner (Scouts) and Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination); Dr. D. Bhashini Priyanka, District Commissioner (Guides) and DMO (Gynic), Divisional Railway Hospital/Visakhapatnam, along with other office bearers, Scouts, Guides and members of the Bharat Scouts & Guides, Visakhapatnam District.
The awareness drive will focus on educating passengers about maintaining cleanliness inside trains and railway premises, using dustbins for waste disposal, avoiding littering, and supporting Indian Railways’ efforts towards a cleaner travel environment. The campaign will also emphasize the importance of travelling with valid tickets, adhering to railway rules and regulations, and discouraging ticketless travel,. The campaign also includes awareness on prohibition of smoking on trains, emergency response measures and safety precautions to be followed during train journeys.
As a special highlight of the campaign, a Flash Mob programme conveying messages on cleanliness, safety and responsible travel will be organised on 21st June 2026 at 17:00 hrs at Visakhapatnam Railway Station.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Lalit Bohra appreciated the efforts of the Bharat Scouts & Guides and emphasized the vital role of public participation in maintaining cleanliness, ensuring safety and promoting lawful travel on Indian Railways.
GM, South Coast Railway Conducts Intensive Inspection of Tirupati–Guntakal Section Sandeep Mathur, General Manager, South Coast Railway (SCoR), conducted an intensive inspection of major raiwlay stations in Guntakal Division including Tirupati Railway Station and the Tirupati–Guntakal section today. This marks his first inspection of the section following the formation of the new South Coast Railway Zone, aimed at reviewing infrastructure development, passenger amenities, and ongoing projects across the Zone.At Tirupati Railway Station, the General Manager reviewed the progress of the Station Redevelopment Project and inspected various passenger amenity and infrastructure works, including the circulating area, lifts, escalators, platforms, concourse, and other facilities. He interacted with construction officials and emphasized the importance of timely execution while maintaining high quality standards. Guntakal Division made a detailed presentation highlighting the status of ongoing projects, developmental activities, operational achievements, and future plans in the division.As part of the inspection, Shri Sandeep Mathur visited Razampeta Railway Station and reviewed developmental works in the circulating area, waiting hall, parking area, and other passenger facilities. At Kadapa Railway Station, the General Manager conducted a detailed inspection of the circulating area, platforms, and passenger amenities, with special focus on the progress of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme works. He assessed the quality of execution and reviewed ongoing infrastructure development activities, directing officials to ensure quality and timely completion of all projects.General Manager also carried out a window trailing inspection from Tadipatri to Gooty to assess track conditions, safety aspects, and ongoing works in the section. At Gooty, he inspected the yard remodelling works and advised officials to expedite completion. He further continued the inspection of railway infrastructure between Gooty and Guntakal through window trailing inspection.


SCORWWO ORGANISES HYDRATION DRIVE AT VISAKHAPATNAM RAILWAY STATION, DISTRIBUTES 6,000 BUTTERMILK PACKETS



Members of the South Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (SCoRWWO), Visakhapatnam Division, organised a special Hydration Drive at Visakhapatnam Railway Station today to provide relief to passengers, the general public, and frontline workers during the ongoing summer season.
As part of the initiative, SCoRWWO-Visakhapatnam Division members and volunteers distributed nearly 6,000 buttermilk packets across waiting halls and railway platforms, helping travellers and railway staff stay hydrated amid rising temperatures.
Speaking on the occasion, SCoRWWO- Visakhapatnam Division, President Smt. Jyotsna said, “The increasing summer heat can lead to dehydration and adversely affect the health of passengers and frontline workers. We appeal to the public to consume adequate water and buttermilk regularly to stay hydrated and healthy.”
The programme witnessed active participation from SCoRWWO – VSKP Vice President Smt. Suhasini, Secretary Smt. Ankita Sharma, Executive Members of SCoRWWO, and other volunteers, who personally distributed buttermilk packets to passengers and workers at the station.

GM, SOUTH COAST RAILWAY INSPECTS VISAKHAPATNAM RAILWAY STATION; REVIEWS INFRASTRUCTURE, SAFETY AND DEVELOPMENTAL WORKS
Shri Sandeep Mathur, General Manager, South Coast Railway, conducted a comprehensive inspection of Visakhapatnam Railway Station today.The inspection commenced with a detailed review of passenger amenities and platform facilities, where the General Manager assessed the existing infrastructure and the progress of various improvement works being undertaken at the station.
Shri Sandeep Mathur, GM, reviewed several key developmental projects, including planned station redevelopment and upgradation works, and the proposed yard remodelling plan. He conducted trolley inspection of the yard to assess the existing layout and infrastructure, and suggested yard remodelling measures for improving operational flexibility, enhancing train handling capacity, and ensuring safer train operations.
He also inspected important passenger facilities such as Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), lifts, escalators, Drinking water facilities etc.
The inspection was attended by Principal Chief Engineer Shri B.S.K. Rajkumar, Principal Chief Signal & Telecom Engineer Shri O.B. Suresh Kumar, Principal Chief Operations Manager Shri Vineet Kumar, Principal Chief Commercial Manager Shri K Sambasiva Rao, Chief Administrative Officer Shri Ankush Gupta, and Divisional Railway Manager, Visakhapatnam Division, Shri Lalit Bohra, along with senior officers of South Coast Railway and the Visakhapatnam Division.

292 మీటర్ల పొడవు, 45 మీటర్ల వెడల్పు, 12.2 మీటర్ల డ్రాఫ్ట్ కలిగిన ఈ నౌక 1,00,198 మెట్రిక్ టన్నుల కార్గోతో విశాఖపట్నం పోర్టుకు చేరుకుంది.
ఈ నౌక బెర్తింగ్ తో విశాఖపట్నం పోర్ట్ కేప్ స్థాయి నౌకలను బెర్తింగ్ చేసే సదుపాయాన్ని మరింత మెరుగుపరచుకుంది. దీనివల్ల భారీ బల్క్ క్యారియర్ నౌకలను నిర్వహించే సామర్థ్యం పెరిగి, కార్గో నిర్వహణలో పోర్టు సామర్థ్యం మరింత బలోపేతం అయింది.

SOUTH COAST RAILWAY OBSERVES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
South Coast Railway (SCoR) observed World Environment Day with a Green Plantation Drive at Mudasarlova, the site of the upcoming South Coast Railway Zonal Headquarters, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability and ecological conservation.
Shri Sandeep Mathur, General Manager, South Coast Railway, along with Smt. Charu Mathur, President, South Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (SCoRWWO), participated in the plantation drive and led the initiative to promote a greener and healthier environment. Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs), senior railway officials, and Executive Members of SCoRWWO also took part in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sandeep Mathur emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable development. He stated, “Every sapling planted today is a step towards a cleaner, greener, and healthier tomorrow. As we build infrastructure for the future, it is equally important that we nurture nature and create sustainable ecosystems for generations to come.” Following this, a pledge was administered, reaffirming the commitment to environmental conservation.
As part of the celebrations, an innovative ‘Make in India Lion’ Waste-to-Art installation was unveiled by Shri Sandeep Mathur at the venue. The creative sculpture, developed using recycled and discarded materials, symbolises the Railway’s commitment to environmental responsibility, resource conservation, and the promotion of the ‘Waste to Wealth’ concept.


WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026 OBSERVED BY VISAKHAPATNAM DIVISION


Visakhapatnam Division observed World Environment Day with enthusiasm and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. The celebrations commenced with a Prabhat Pheri and Cycle Rally led by Divisional Railway Manager Shri Lalit Bohra, from the DRM Bungalow to the Football Ground, bringing together officers, staff, and their families in a collective pledge towards environmental conservation.
Division also organized sapling plantation drives and other awareness activities aimed at promoting sustainable practices and fostering environmental responsibility.
As part of a fortnight-long campaign conducted from May 15 to June 5, the Environment and Housekeeping Management wing of Visakhapatnam Division organized a series of programmes across the Division. Marking the culmination of the campaign, a Nukkad Natak (street play) was presented today by the Divisional Cultural Association, Visakhapatnam Division, highlighting the importance of environmental protection and community participation in creating a greener future.
