INTER DEPARTMENTAL SPORTS MELA–2026: ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT EMERGES OVERALL CHAMPION

The Inter Departmental Sports Mela–2026, organized by East Coast Railway Sports Association (ECoRSA), Waltair Division, concluded with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit at Visakhapatnam. The Chief Guest of the occasion was DRM Shri Lalit Bohra, President ECoRSA; Guest of Honour is Smt Jyotsna Bohra President ECoR Women’s Welfare Organisation- Waltair. The mega event was also witnessed by ADRM Infra Shri E Santharam, ADRM operations Shri K Rama Rao, Sports Officer Shri Harandh Mopuri, Treasurer Shri Diptanshu Sharma and other officers of the Division.

The event witnessed active participation from various departments, showcasing exceptional teamwork, sportsmanship, and athletic excellence across multiple disciplines including Cricket, Football, badminton, chess, carroms, volleyball, cricket, table tennis, and tennis.

Overall Championship Results
The Engineering Department emerged as the Overall Champion, securing 34 points, while the Mechanical (C&W) Department finished as the Runner-up with 32 points, reflecting a closely contested championship.

Highlights of Team Events

 ECoRWWO Team clinched the Cricket (Women) championship.
 Operating Team excelled in Ball Badminton and Cricket (Men).
 Electrical (OP) Team showed best performance in Carroms (Women) and Chess (Men).
 Mechanical (C&W) Team dominated Volleyball (Men) and Football (Men).
 Commercial Team showcased excellence in Table Tennis (Men & Women).
 DLS Team secured top positions in Shuttle Badminton (Women) and Volleyball (Women).
 S&T Team won the Tennis (Men) title.

Today Events
 In Tug of War (Women), the Engineering Team emerged victorious.
 In Tug of War (Men), the Mechanical (C&W) Team secured the winning position.
