E-BICYCLES TO PROMOTE GREEN MOBILITY – RIDE SMART & RIDE GREEN*In line with the Government of India’s initiatives to reduce fuel consumption, combat global warming, and promote environmental conservation, Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has launched a comprehensive campaign to encourage sustainable practices and environmental awareness among railway employees, passengers, and the general public.As part of the initiative, E-Bicycles were ceremonially handed over to Waltair Division by Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College in support of eco-friendly and sustainable mobility initiatives. The E-Bicycles were inaugurated by Shri Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, at the DRM Office, Dondaparthi, Visakhapatnam.The programme was attended by Dr. G. Madhu Kumar, Secretary & Correspondent, Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College, along with other dignitaries from the institution, including Dr. G.S.K. Chakravarthy, Principal (UG & PG), Prof. Deepak Chowdary, Principal, Engineering College, Mr. K. Someswara Reddy, Principal, Junior College, and Mr. V.V. Raja Rao, Dean – Public & Corporate Relations.Senior Railway officials present on the occasion included Shri K. Rama Rao, ADRM (Operations), Shri K. Pavan Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Branch Officers, supervisors, and staff of Waltair Division.Appreciating the initiative taken by Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College, DRM Shri Lalit Bohra stated that “the new revolution is electric, and this is the right time to adopt sustainable mobility solutions.” He said that “Prabhat Pheri” awareness programmes on environmental conservation would be conducted during the campaign period using the newly handed-over E-Bicycles across various railway colonies and railway premises. The initiative aims to promote the use of environment-friendly transport and encourage reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions.Speaking on the occasion, the DRM reiterated that Waltair Division remains committed to promoting green initiatives and expanding environmental awareness activities across stations, offices, railway colonies, and other railway establishments throughout the Division.Addressing the gathering at the DRM Conference Hall, Prof. Deepak Chowdary, Principal, Engineering College, highlighted the advantages of E-Bicycles as eco-friendly vehicles suitable for students and health-conscious citizens. He stated that the vehicles can run up to 30 kilometres on a single charge and are equipped with advanced safety features, quick charging capability, and require neither a driving licence nor vehicle registration.To further strengthen the campaign, Waltair Division will conduct workshops and sensitization programmes on climate action, waste segregation, cleanliness, sustainable practices, and mass plantation drives for railway employees during the campaign period.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitmentto further deepening bilateral defence ties based on mutual trust, shared interests, and a commoన vision for a secure, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.The SCMC serves as the principal military-to-military consultative mechanism between the two countries and is the precursor to the India-Malaysia Defence Cooperation Meeting held at thelevel of Defence Secretary. The meeting reviewed the progress made since the last SCMC and expressed confidence that the outcomes would provide a strong foundation for productive deliberations at the forthcoming India-Malaysia Defence Cooperation Meetin
