EASTERN NAVAL COMMAND PAYS TRIBUTE TO KARGIL HEROES ON THE 27th KARGIL VIJAY Diwas On the solemn occasion of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) conducted a Wreath Laying Ceremony at the iconic ‘Victory at Sea’ War Memorial, RK Beach, Visakhapatnam, to honour the courage, valour and supreme sacrifice of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil War (Operation Vijay).

The ceremony was led by Vice Admiral Susheel Menon, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command, who laid a floral wreath at the War Memorial. Col V Samuel Prakash and Group Capt P Shyam Kumar from Army and Air Force also paid their respects to the fallen heroes.

A ceremonial 50-member Guard was paraded at the venue, followed by the observance of a two-minute silence in memory of the bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of the nation.

Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates India’s historic victory in Operation Vijay and serves as a reminder of the unwavering courage, indomitable spirit and selfless devotion to duty displayed by the Armed Forces during the Kargil conflict. The day reinforces the nation’s enduring gratitude towards its soldiers and inspires future generations to uphold the ideals of patriotism and national service.

The Eastern Naval Command remains steadfast in honouring the legacy of India’s fallen heroes and reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests with Duty, Honour and Courage.

Vizagvision Visakhapatnam:GM SCoR REVIEWS SAFETY PREPAREDNESS WITH FOCUS ON MAINTENANCE PRACTICES, MONSOON READINESS &LEVEL CROSSING SAFETY*General Manager, South Coast Railway, Shri Sandeep Mathur, chaired a comprehensive Safety Review Meeting with Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of all four Divisions of South Coast Railway, focusing on strengthening safety systems through improved maintenance practices, enhanced preparedness for monsoon conditions and effective management of Level Crossing (LC) Gates.The meeting reviewed safety from a preventive and asset-management perspective and ensuring timely corrective action rather than responding only after incidents occur. GM Shri Sandeep Mathur directed all departments and Divisions to maintain continuous vigilance and ensure that safety protocols are translated into effective field-level practices.Officials were advised to closely monitor the condition of tracks, signalling and telecommunications equipment, electrical installations, bridges, yards, points and crossings, drainage systems and other critical infrastructure. He called for regular inspections, systematic preventive maintenance and prompt rectification of deficiencies. Field staff were advised to remain alert to early signs of deterioration and ensure that maintenance activities are carried out strictly as per prescribed standards and schedules. Reviewing the preparedness for continuing monsoon conditions, GM instructed officials to maintain close watch over vulnerable locations, waterlogging-prone areas, drainage arrangements, cuttings, bridges, yards and other critical railway assets. Adequate drainage and water evacuation arrangements were emphasized to prevent accumulation of water around tracks, RUBs and railway installations The meeting concluded with directions to all concerned departments and Divisions to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, improve maintenance standards and ensure effective implementation of safety measures, particularly during the monsoon season.
