National Recognition for Visakhapatnam Division: ELS and DLS Secure Second Prize at All India Level

The Electric Loco Shed (ELS) and Diesel Loco Shed (DLS), Visakhapatnam, under VISAKHAPATNAM Division of South Coast Railway, have earned national recognition by securing Second Prize in the categories of “All India Best Loco Shed Homing Electric Coaching Locomotives” and “Best Diesel Shed Homing Electric Locomotives”, respectively.

The awards were conferred for outstanding performance in achieving high locomotive availability, reducing failures, and ensuring efficient maintenance with optimum manpower utilization. The awards were presented by the Member Traction Rolling Stock (MTRS), Railway Board, during the 43rd MSG (Loco) Meeting held at CLW/Chittaranjan on 20 June 2026.

On 24 June 2026, Shri Lalit Bohra, DRM/VSKP, congratulated Shri B. Shanmukha Rao, Sr. DEE/TRS/VSKP, Shri Shubham Saini, DEE/TRS/VSKP, Shri Manoj Kumar Sahu, Sr.DME/DLS, Sri V. Srinivas, ADEE/DLS, Sri Sasidhar ADME/DLS and the officers, supervisors, and staff of ELS and DLS for this notable achievement. He appreciated their dedication and teamwork, which have brought pride and recognition to Visakhapatnam Division at the national level.

The comprehensive session focused heavily on reinforcing safety protocols, accelerating freight loading and revenue generation, and upgrading passenger amenities across the zone. During the meeting, the General Manager emphasized that safety consciousness must remain the utmost priority across all railway operations. Detailed evaluations were conducted on track maintenance, signaling systems, preventive measures against operational hazards, and strict adherence to safety guidelines by field personnel.In addition to safety frameworks, the discussions centered on maximizing freight loading efficiency and exploring new revenue streams to ensure sustained financial growth. Divisional heads presented updates on ongoing infrastructure projects and target achievements. Furthermore, Shri Sandeep Mathur stressed the importance of improving passenger experiences, directing officials to fast-track the modernization of station facilities, cleanliness drives, and passenger-centric services.
