Vizagvision Visakhapatnam : SOUTH COAST RAILWAY CELEBRATES 12th INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA AT VISAKHAPATNAMSouth Coast Railway celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm and fervour at Visakhapatnam today. The event assumed special significance as it marked the first International Yoga Day celebration of the newly formed South Coast Railway, bringing together employees from all branches and units of the Zone.The programme was led by General Manager, South Coast Railway, Shri Sandeep Mathur, and President, South Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (SCoRWWO), Smt. Charu Mathur. Principal Heads of Departments, officers, members of SCoRWWO, trade union representatives, employees, Scouts & Guides cadets and media personnel participated in large numbers.Addressing the gathering, Shri Sandeep Mathur highlighted that the International Day of Yoga, envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, has grown into a global movement promoting holistic health and well-being.Referring to the theme of International Day of Yoga 2026, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” General Manager emphasized that Yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a way of life that promotes physical fitness, mental peace, emotional balance and healthy longevity. He stated that for the railway family, which works round the clock in service of the nation, Yoga serves as a powerful tool for maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being and emotional resilience, thereby contributing to safer, more efficient and productive railway operations.Mathur recalled with pride the historic achievement of India in creating a Guinness World Record during last year’s International Day of Yoga celebrations at Visakhapatnam in the gracious presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Inspired by this achievement, he expressed confidence that India would continue to achieve greater milestones and further strengthen its position as the global ambassador of Yoga and holistic well-being.Encouraging employees to integrate Yoga into their daily routine, Shri Mathur advocated the adoption of the 5-Minute Y-Break Protocol, comprising simple Yoga practices designed specifically for employees to promote wellness during working hours. He urged everyone to make Yoga a part of their daily lives and carry forward the message of “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” for the benefit of society and future generations.The General Manager congratulated all organizers and participants for making the event a grand success and thanked the media fraternity for spreading the message of Yoga and healthy living to the wider public.The event concluded with a collective pledge to promote Yoga as a way of life and work together towards building a healthier, happier and stronger India.

Vizagvision:అంతర్జాతీయ యోగ దినోత్సవము ప్రతి సంవత్సరం జూన్ 21 న జరుపుకుంటారు. 2014 సెప్టెంబరు 27న భారత ప్రధాని నరేంద్రమోడి ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి సర్వసభ్య సమావేశంలో అంతర్జాతీయ యోగా దినోత్సవం ప్రతి సంవత్సరం జూన్ 21న జరుపుకొనుట గురించి ప్రతిపాదన చేశారు. ఈ తీర్మానానికి 193 ఐరాస ప్రతినిధులలో 175 మంది మద్దతు ఇచ్చారు. భద్రతా కమిషన్‌లో శాశ్వత సభ్యులుగా ఉన్న భారతదేశం, అమెరికా, ఇంగ్లాండ్, చైనా, ఫ్రాన్స్, రష్యా వంటి దేశాలు కూడా ఈ తీర్మానానికి సహ ప్రతినిధులు. విస్తృతమైన చర్చల తరువాత డిసెంబర్ 2014 లో ఆమోదించబడింది. 2015 జూన్ 21 న, మొదటి అంతర్జాతీయ యోగా దినోత్సవాన్ని ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా జరుపుకున్నారు.[1] జూన్ 21నే యోగా దినోత్సవం జరుపుకోవడానికి గల కారణం జూన్ 21 ఉత్తరార్ధగోళంలో అత్యధిక పగటి సమయం ఉన్న రోజు. ప్రపంచంలోని పలు ప్రాంతాల్లో ఆ రోజుకు ప్రత్యేకత కూడా ఉంటుంది. ఎక్కువ పగటి సమయం ఉన్న రోజుగా గుర్తింపు పొందడంతో అదే రోజును అంతర్జాతీయ యోగా దినోత్సవంగా జరుపుకోవాలని ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితికి ప్రధాని మోదీ సూచించారు.
