INDIAN NAVY SET TO COMMISSION THREE INDIGENOUS NAVAL
PLATFORMS IN KOLKATA
The Indian Navy is scheduled to commission three indigenously built
frontline platforms – Dunagiri, Sanshodhak, and Agray – in Kolkata
The landmark ceremony will be presided over by the Hon’ble Prime
Minister.Designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and
constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, the vessels represent key operational capabilities across maritime combat, hydrographic surveying, and anti-submarine warfare. Together, they reflect the Navy’s balanced approach to capability development, strengthening bluewater operations, enhancing maritime domain awareness, and securing
coastal waters against evolving threats. Dunagiri, the fifth Project 17A stealth frigate, is equipped with advanced weapons and sensors, including BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles and the Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile system, significantly enhancing the Navy’s combat capability.Sanshodhak, the fourth Survey Vessel (Large), is designed for coastal and deep-water hydrographic surveys and collection of oceanographic and geophysical data for defence and civil applications, and is equipped with advanced survey systems including Autonomous Underwater Vehicles and Remotely Operated Vehicles. Agray, the fourth of the Arnala-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, is equipped with lightweight torpedoes, indigenous rocket launchers, and shallow-water sonar systems to detect and engage underwater threats in littoral waters.
The three platforms demonstrate the growing maturity of India’s
indigenous shipbuilding ecosystem, with indigenous content exceeding 75 percent. Their construction involved extensive participation by Indian industry, including more than 200 MSMEs, and generated substantial direct and indirect employment.
The commissioning of these vessels highlights the collaborative efforts of the Government of India, the Indian Navy, public sector shipyards, private industry and MSMEs in advancing the objectives of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and strengthening India’s maritime capabilities.

‘ది విశాఖపట్నం కోఆపరేటివ్ బ్యాంకు లిమిటెడ’ తన 111ఏళ్ల ప్రస్థానంలో రూ.8473కోట్ల టర్నోవర్ సాధించగలిగిందని ఆ బ్యాంకు చైర్మన్ జేవీ సత్యనారాయణ మÖర్తి (నాని) ఆనందం వ్యక్తం చేశారు. ఆ బ్యాంకు వార్షికోత్సవం సందర్భంగా విశాఖలోని ద్వారకానగర్లోని ప్రధాన శాఖలో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన మీడియా సమావేశంలో సీఈవో వీవీబీ వరలక్ష్మి, బ్యాంకు పాలక వర్గ సభ్యులతో కలిసి ఆయన మాట్లాడుతూ తమ బ్యాంకు 60శాఖలుగా విస్తరించి, ఈ ఒక్క ఏడాదిలో సుమారు రూ.681కోట్ల పెరుగుదల కనిపించిందని స్పష్టం చేశారు. పదేళ్లగా దేశంలోనే అతి పెద్ద కో`ఆపరేటివ్ బ్యాంకుగా తమ బ్యాంకు కొనసాగతూ సహకార సూత్రాల్ని త్రికరణ శుద్ధితో ప్రజాస్వామ్య బద్ధంగా అమలు చేస్తోందన్నారు. 1983లో బ్యాంకు చైర్మన్గా మానం ఆంజనేయులు బాధ్యతలు చేపట్టే నాటికి కేవలం రూ.1కోటి ఆర్థిక కార్యకలాపాలే ఉండేవని, అయితే నాలుగు దశాబ్దాలుగా చైర్మన్, చైర్మన్ ఎమిరిటీస్గా పని చేసిన ఆయన పాలకవర్గం సమష్టి నిర్ణయాలతో బ్యాంకును ప్రగతి బాటలో నడిపించారని సత్యనారాయణ మÖర్తి గుర్తు చేశారు. ఆయనతో పాటు డైరెక్టర్, ఈడీగా పని చేసిన చలసాని రాఘవేంద్రరరావు బ్యాంకు చైర్మన్గా బ్యాంకును ఉన్నతస్థానంలో నిలపడంలో మరింత కృషి చేశారన్నారు. గతేడాది చైర్మన్గా సత్యనారాయణ ఎన్నికయ్యాక ఇదే తొలి సమావేశం కావడంతో విశేషం సంతరించకుంది.
2025-26 ఆర్థిక సంవత్సరానికి సభ్యులుగా చేరి, ప్రజలు సమకూర్చిన రూ.416.29 కోట్ల షేరుధనంతో దేశంలోనే తమ బ్యాంకు అగ్ర స్థానంలో నిలబడిందని సత్యనారాయణ మÖర్తి తెలిపారు. డిపాజిట్లు, రుణాల మంజూరు, నికర లాభం తదితర 15అంశాల్లో తమ బ్యాంకు తొలి 15బ్యాంకుల్లో ఒకటిగా కొనసాగడం గర్వకారణమన్నారు. ఈ యేడాది మార్చి నాటికి బ్యాంకు పని తీరును ఆయన వివరించారు. బ్యాంకులు 1,17,884 మంది సభ్యులుగా ఉన్నారని, రూ. 416.25 కోట్లు మÖలధనం ఉందని, రూ.4,594,97 కోట్లు డిపాజిట్లు ఉన్నాయని, రూ.3,877.42 కోట్లు రుణాలున్నాయని, రూ.8,472,39 కోట్ల నికర లాభం, పన్నుల అనంతరం రూ. 66,15 కోట్లు ఉందన్నారు. క్రమం తప్పకుండా సభ్యులకు 10 నుంచి 42శాతం వరకు డివిడెండ్ వెళ్తోందన్నారు. తమకు 16సొంత భవనాలున్నాయని, మరెక్కడా లేని విధంగా 25శాతం శాఖలు సొంత భవనాల నుంచే కార్యకలాపాలు నిర్వహిస్తున్నాయని సత్యనారాయణ మÖర్తి స్పష్టం చేశారు. మరో 9కొత్త శాఖలు రానున్నాయన్నారు. తమ బ్యాంకులో విలీనమయ్యేందుకు పలు శాఖలు ముందుకొచ్చాయని, తమ బ్యాంకు సభ్యలకు అనేక సంక్షేమ పథకాలు అమలు చేస్తున్నామన్నారు. ఖాతాదారులకు కూడా అనేక రాయితీలిస్తున్నామని ఆయన స్పష్టం చేశారు.
FIRST BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT UNIT MEETING HELD IN VISAKHAPATNAM DIVISION OF SOUTH COAST RAILWAY
The first Business Development Unit (BDU) Meeting of Visakhapatnam Division, South Coast Railway, was held today (19th June, 2026) at the Divisional Office, Visakhapatnam, under the guidance of Shri Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, Visakhapatnam Division. The meeting was attended by Shri Vineet Kumar, Principal Chief Operations Manager (PCOM), Shri K. Sambasiva Rao, Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM), and representatives from major freight stakeholders including CONCOR, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Gangavaram Port, RINL (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant), HPCL and other business partners.
Among the prominent participants were Shri P. Satyanarayana Chief Commercial Manager (Freight), SCoR; Shri P. Chaitanya Chief Freight Transportation Manager, SCoR; Shri Saandeep, General Manager, CONCOR; Shri R.K. Thawait, General Manager (Traffic), RINL; Shri Avatar Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Gangavaram Port; and Shri K.P. Ramesh, Deputy General Manager (LPG), HPC; Shri K Pavan Kumar Senior Divisinal Commercial Manager, Visakahaptnam Division; Shri A.Avinash, Senior Divisional Operations Manager. The meeting focused on strengthening logistics partnerships and exploring new avenues for enhancing freight business and customer engagement.
During the meeting, a detailed review of freight loading and earnings achieved during the current financial year was undertaken. Commodity-wise analysis and growth trends over the corresponding previous years were also discussed. Shri Lalit Bohra, DRM/Visakhapatnam, informed that the Division has set an ambitious freight loading target of 55.0 Million Tonnes (MT) for the current financial year. Senior Headquarters officers assured full support and cooperation in achieving the target.
Issues pertaining to rake availability, placement, transit time and operational constraints were deliberated in detail and assurances were given for prompt resolution of customer concerns. Freight customers were encouraged to explore additional loading opportunities and contribute towards achieving the freight targets during the current financial year.
Shri K. Sambasiva Rao, PCCM, advised the customers to identify potential traffic streams and promote modal shift from road to rail. He also emphasized strict adherence to safety norms during loading and unloading operations to prevent damage to rolling stock and ensure safe freight handling practices.
Shri Vineet Kumar, PCOM, assured prompt supply of rakes and encouraged customers to take advantage of various Railway incentive schemes for generating additional traffic. He emphasized the need for close coordination and a collaborative approach between Railways and freight customers to achieve the business targets set for the year.
The meeting reaffirmed South Coast Railway’s commitment towards customer-centric freight operations and strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders to drive sustainable growth in freight business.

DRDO demonstrates the nation’s next-gen defence capabilities
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully demonstrated multiple crucial technologies bolstering the nation’s defence capabilities against different types of enemy threats. Three consecutive flight-tests were conducted on June 10 & 11, 2026 to demonstrate multi-layered defence against long range ballistic missiles and anti-ship capability at medium range.Multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) capability was successfully demonstrated. The interceptors successfully engaged their respective targets. The systems are designed and developed with latest technologies to address the emerging missile threats.
These tests have put the country in the elite group of nations having BMD capability to engage up to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. The maiden flight-test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range (NASM-MR) was also carried out successfully. The flight-tests were witnessed by senior officials of DRDO and Defence Forces.

Bharat Scouts & Guides Launch Week-long Awareness Campaign on On-board Cleanliness, Fire Safety and Prevention of Ticketless Travel The Bharat Scouts & Guides wing of Visakhapatnam Division, South Coast Railway, launched a week-long awareness campaign on On-board Cleanliness, Prevention of Ticketless Travelling and Fire Safety in Trains from 13th June to 21st June 2026. The campaign aims to promote responsible travel practices among railway passengers and enhance awareness regarding safety and cleanliness during train journeys.
As part of the launch programme, posters and pamphlets highlighting the key messages of the campaign were unveiled by Shri Lalit Bohra, President, Bharat Scouts & Guides and Divisional Railway Manager, Visakhapatnam Division. The programme was held in the presence of Shri K. Rama Rao, District Chief Commissioner and ADRM (Operations), Visakhapatnam; Shri Deeptanshu Sharma, Vice President and Senior Divisional Signal & Telecom Engineer, Visakhapatnam; Shri Rajeev Kumar, District Commissioner (Scouts) and Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination); Dr. D. Bhashini Priyanka, District Commissioner (Guides) and DMO (Gynic), Divisional Railway Hospital/Visakhapatnam, along with other office bearers, Scouts, Guides and members of the Bharat Scouts & Guides, Visakhapatnam District.
The awareness drive will focus on educating passengers about maintaining cleanliness inside trains and railway premises, using dustbins for waste disposal, avoiding littering, and supporting Indian Railways’ efforts towards a cleaner travel environment. The campaign will also emphasize the importance of travelling with valid tickets, adhering to railway rules and regulations, and discouraging ticketless travel,. The campaign also includes awareness on prohibition of smoking on trains, emergency response measures and safety precautions to be followed during train journeys.
As a special highlight of the campaign, a Flash Mob programme conveying messages on cleanliness, safety and responsible travel will be organised on 21st June 2026 at 17:00 hrs at Visakhapatnam Railway Station.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Lalit Bohra appreciated the efforts of the Bharat Scouts & Guides and emphasized the vital role of public participation in maintaining cleanliness, ensuring safety and promoting lawful travel on Indian Railways.
GM, South Coast Railway Conducts Intensive Inspection of Tirupati–Guntakal Section Sandeep Mathur, General Manager, South Coast Railway (SCoR), conducted an intensive inspection of major raiwlay stations in Guntakal Division including Tirupati Railway Station and the Tirupati–Guntakal section today. This marks his first inspection of the section following the formation of the new South Coast Railway Zone, aimed at reviewing infrastructure development, passenger amenities, and ongoing projects across the Zone.At Tirupati Railway Station, the General Manager reviewed the progress of the Station Redevelopment Project and inspected various passenger amenity and infrastructure works, including the circulating area, lifts, escalators, platforms, concourse, and other facilities. He interacted with construction officials and emphasized the importance of timely execution while maintaining high quality standards. Guntakal Division made a detailed presentation highlighting the status of ongoing projects, developmental activities, operational achievements, and future plans in the division.As part of the inspection, Shri Sandeep Mathur visited Razampeta Railway Station and reviewed developmental works in the circulating area, waiting hall, parking area, and other passenger facilities. At Kadapa Railway Station, the General Manager conducted a detailed inspection of the circulating area, platforms, and passenger amenities, with special focus on the progress of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme works. He assessed the quality of execution and reviewed ongoing infrastructure development activities, directing officials to ensure quality and timely completion of all projects.General Manager also carried out a window trailing inspection from Tadipatri to Gooty to assess track conditions, safety aspects, and ongoing works in the section. At Gooty, he inspected the yard remodelling works and advised officials to expedite completion. He further continued the inspection of railway infrastructure between Gooty and Guntakal through window trailing inspection.
